The food truck is a vehicle fitted out as a small kitchen that parks in the event space and serves guests from a hatch. It usually offers a short menu, often street food: sandwiches, fried food, pizza, desserts. It works at private parties, informal corporate events, late-night wedding food and large outdoor events.
It needs specific conditions: room to manoeuvre and park, access suited to the size of the vehicle, power or a generator. In the historic centre it is often complicated because of access and ZTL (limited traffic zones); gardens, courtyards, car parks and country houses suit it better. Permits depend on where the vehicle parks.
What to ask
Ask for the vehicle's dimensions, how much power it needs, how many people it serves in an hour and whether there is a guaranteed minimum of guests or spend. Check the rules with the venue and, on public land, with the municipality. Everything is in the guide to food trucks for events.
