Street food at an event brings food from the street to the garden or villa: sandwiches, fried bites, pizza, dishes in small bowls, desserts to eat on the move. It is organised by stations, that is counters, not by courses. It works at birthday and graduation parties, 18th birthdays, openings, informal corporate events and as late-night food at a wedding.
It often costs less than elaborate finger food and is easy to eat standing. The weak point is the fried food: you need a fryer on site or a good reheating method, otherwise it arrives soggy. It also lends itself to one or more food trucks, if the space allows.
What to ask
Ask how many stations the caterer plans, where it fries, how many pieces per person it calculates and how it manages queues. Plan plant-based and gluten-free alternatives. Ideas in the guide to street food for events and the one on the 18th birthday party.
