Coffee break

The break at a conference or meeting, usually 15-30 minutes: coffee, drinks, sweet and savoury bites. The welcome coffee is the one on arrival.

The coffee break is the break in a working day: conference, training, long meeting. It usually lasts 15-30 minutes, with coffee, tea, juices, water, something sweet and savoury, fruit. The welcome coffee is the same format when participants arrive, before work starts.

The difficulty is not the menu but the queue: in a quarter of an hour everyone wants a coffee. That is why the number of service points matters more than the number of products, and for large numbers the caterer plans several. Also plan gluten-free, lactose-free and vegan items, ideally individually wrapped.

What to ask

Give the exact break times, the number of participants and the diets collected at registration. Ask how many service points there are, whether the coffee is espresso and whether the price includes VAT. Menus and rough ranges are in the guide to the corporate coffee break and in corporate catering prices.

Frequently asked questions

How many service points does a coffee break need?

It depends on the participants and the length of the break. Ask the caterer for its calculation: the aim is that nobody spends the break queuing.

What is the difference between a welcome coffee and a coffee break?

The welcome coffee greets participants on arrival; the coffee break is the pause between sessions. The menu is similar.
