A marquee (in Italian, tensostruttura) is a temporary cover, put up to protect guests and tables at an outdoor event. A gazebo covers small areas, such as the bar or a buffet station; a marquee covers the whole dinner. They are not the same thing, and costs and set-up differ too.
It is often the heart of the plan B for a wedding at a villa or country house. In the busiest months it has to be booked regardless, because it is hard to find one at the last minute. Wind and ground matter, and it needs certification and a declaration of correct assembly. Permits depend on the place and the type of event.
What to ask
Ask who supplies it (caterer, venue or hire company), whether it has to be booked in any case, what it costs, who puts it up and with what certification. Check the set-up rules with the venue. The details are in the guide to marquees and gazebos and the one on equipment hire.
